He meets his godfather's clotheshorse girlfriend (Amanda Peet) and an oversophisticated young woman (Claire Danes), who teach him a few things about life. Sent to a military school by his uncomprehending parents (Bill Pullman and Susan Sarandon), he soon breaks out and makes for New York, where he finds refuge at the bachelor pad of his swinging godfather (Jeff Goldblum). Friday.īARBERSHOP - A barbershop on Chicago's South Side becomes the gathering place for an assortment of neighborhood characters, including the crusty veteran barber (Cedric the Entertainer), a self-regarding college student (Sean Patrick Thomas), an ex-con trying to stay out of trouble (Michael Ealy) and a street-smart woman (the rap star Eve) who still isn't tough enough to tell off her double-dealing boyfriend. But wait, there's more: her deeply disturbed, abusive mother (Nicole Garcia) moves in and decides that Betty needs another child to care for - so she kidnaps one.
